'An Apparition of Memory', Brigitte Lustenberger, 2021

An Apparition of Memory comes as an artist-zine in a limited edition. The first of six issues focuses on the new flower works and creative process of Swiss artist Brigitte Lustenberger. It includes a centerfold image, shows details of the artwork, tells personal stories and shows behind-the-scenes photographs/out of the artist’s studio.Under a shroud of chalk and salt crystals the flowers in Brigitte Lustenberger’s work seem to be preserved for eternity. For a moment it seems time can be stopped by encapsulating the beauty and fragility of life. They are frozen in time, but still decomposing — becoming deconstructed scientific abstractions. Light transforms the semitransparent, fragile petals into powerful, delicate photographs.
