Nikon Presents: Heather Agyepong in Conversation with Nikon: On rest & resistance

Agyepong talks about her latest commission for FT Weekend Magazine: My London. She discusses her commission, St. Katharine, and her current residency at St.John’s College, Oxford University. The talk will centre around rediscovering the significance of rest, restoration and stillness in art creation.

Heather Agyepong
Heather Agyepong is a Nikon European Ambassador, British Ghanaian visual artist, and actor based in London. Her work explores themes of mental health, wellbeing, invisibility, the diaspora, and the archive, often placing the self at the centre of her lens-based and performance practice. By reimagining historical and contemporary narratives, she creates cathartic experiences that engage both communities and her own identity. Since 2009, her art has been exhibited, performed, and published internationally, with held in collections such as the National Portrait Gallery, Autograph ABP and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
Alongside her visual art, Heather is an accomplished actor drawn to bold and compelling projects that amplify unique voices. She was recently nominated for best performance for her role in Shifters for the UK Theatre Awards and just won Best Actress award for the Stalls to Stage Awards. Her numerous accolades include the Jerwood/Photoworks Award 2022, Foam Talent 2021, and the Taylor Wessing Photo Prize 2023.
