Michael Hoppen discussed the subject of Taste with Sofia Vollmer de Maduro, W. M. Hunt and Francis Hodgson.
Michael Hoppen opened his gallery in 1992 and was founded on a passion for photography. As a gallery they are renowned for nurturing the careers of new and interesting artists and exhibiting them alongside acknowledged nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first century photographic masters.
Sofia is Director and Curator of the Alberto Vollmer Foundation collection that she founded in 1993, which includes the pioneering photographic work of Alfredo Boulton, the Vollmer photo collection, and the work of Modernist architect Tomas Sanabria. Sofia also serves as advisor to several private and public photographic collections.
Sofia is on the Curatorial Panel of Photo London, and is a trustee of George Eastman House in Rochester, New York.
W. M. Hunt is a photography collector, curator and consultant who lives and works in New York. Founding partner of the prominent photography gallery Hasted Hunt (now Hasted Kraeutler), and former director of photography at Ricco/Maresca gallery, Hunt has been collecting photography for over 35 years. He is also a professor at the School of Visual Arts.
Francis Hodgson is the Professor in the Culture of Photography at the University of Brighton, in England. He is also the photography critic of the Financial Times and a former head of the photographs department at Sotheby’s. Francis is also one of the founders of the Prix Pictet.
