The Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant (IPPG) has supported young and emerging photojournalists for over three decades. The Guardian’s Head of Photography Fiona Shields and photojournalist and poet Anastasia Taylor-Lind join IPPG 2024 recipients Iva Sidash and Ximena Borrazas to discuss the power of visual storytelling, the challenges facing photojournalists today, and the experiences of women photographers living and working in Ukraine.

Fiona Shields
Fiona Shields is The Guardian’s Head of Photography, as well as a curator, speaker and mentor within the photography community.
Anastasia Taylor-Lind
Anastasia Taylor-Lind is a British/Swedish photojournalist and a poet who has photographed the war in Ukraine since it started in 2014.
Iva Sidash
Iva Sidash is an independent photographer and visual storyteller based in Ukraine, whose work shines a light one the often-overlooked personal stories of civilians affected by the conflict.
Ximena Borrazas
Ximena Borrazas an Uruguayan freelance photojournalist based in Barcelona whose work focuses on armed conflicts, migration crises and human rights violations in Europe and Africa.
