Jan Brykczynski in conversation with Diane Smyth

Jan Brykczynski was in conversation with Diane Smyth, Deputy Editor at British Journal Of Photography, to celebrate the launch of his book The Gardener, the result of his commission.

Jan Brykczyński, is a photographer whose work often focuses on rural regions of Europe. In 2014 he has published his first book Boiko on rural life in Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains. His work from Icelandic farms brought him the Syngenta Photography Award Professional Commission, which allowed him to create “The Gardener” project on urban farming published by Dewi Lewis Publishing in 2015.

Diane Smyth is the deputy editor of the British Journal of Photography. Her work has also appeared in the Sunday Herald, Creative Review, Aperture and Photo District News, and she has given talks at The Photographers’ Gallery.
