Satchel Lee in conversation with Precious Adesina
Join journalist Precious Adesina in conversation with Photo London 2024 artist Satchel Lee for a discussion on hair, performativity, self-portraiture, and Lee’s evocative series “X-Pressions.” The photoseries will be presented at Cierra Britton Gallery’s booth at Discovery in May, the first time the American artist has exhibited in the UK.

Ayana V Jackson in conversation with Senzeni Marasela (Koop Projects)
Acclaimed artist Ayana V Jackson in conversation with Senzeni Marasela, who will present works with Koop Projects at Discovery at Photo London in May. One of the most exciting artists working in South Africa today, Marasela’s fascinating, multilayered practice — which includes photography, performance, textile and sculpture – is rooted in storytelling, melding South African history to personal, family memories. Marasela, who was included in the 56th Johannesburg Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (2015) and presented a solo exhibition at Zeitz MOCAA (2020 -2021) discusses her practice with Ayana V Jackson, an artist working with film and photography to, and the founder of Still Art, a residency programme in Johannesburg, where Marasela was recently artist in residence.

Gem Fletcher in conversation with Birgit Glatzel
Photo London 2024 artist Birgit Glatzel (nüüd.berlin gallery) will talk to Gem Fletcher, writer and host of “The Messy Truth” podcast. The two discuss the intimate relationship between the camera and communities, and in particular, the making of Glatzel’s fifteen-year project “Friends of Friends of Friends”, that saw her travel the world photographing portraits of people she was loosely connected to.

Nikon talks are also free of charge and booking in advance is strongly advised. We cannot guarantee availability to walk-ins for Talks. All on-site talks will take place in the Screening Room at Somerset House during Photo London (16-19 May, Preview Day 15 May).
