The Queen's House

Inspired by the Armada Portrait of Queen Elizabeth I, a new commission from photographer Susan Derges comes to the Queen’s House, Greenwich.

Using both analogue and digital techniques the work, titled Mortal Moon, unpacks the Armada Portrait’s symbolism, with a particular focus on the Moon.

These four newly commissioned works, will be displayed in the Queen’s Presence Chamber, alongside the iconic Armada Portrait of Queen Elizabeth I. The display will also feature a celestial globe, dating from 1551.
