Emmanuel Robert Owusu-Afram talks about exploring black masculinity through photography, combining his documentary, street photography and fashion editorial work to understand himself and his role within society and within the photographic community.

Discussing his work, process, and the line between performativity in photography and capturing the natural self, Emmanuel will discuss photographing community and highlighting the strength and individuality in your subject.

Fascinated by personalities and highlighting strong narratives, Emmanuel Robert Owusu-Afram’s photography ranges from high-end fashion editorial to long-form documentary projects. Driven by his interest in capturing people and community, his work engages with the emotional connection photography allows between sitter, photographer and audience.

His work has appeared in top publications, including the biannual fashion and culture magazine HUNGER for which he produced a cover photoshoot for their 10 year anniversary issue. Alongside this he has created fashion and commercial shoots for a range of international clients.
