Sun Archive Books, is an emerging publishing house, deeply committed to contemporary lens-based art and materiality of photobook. Sun Archive was founded in 2024, evolving from the photo gallery MpM_14, which operated for nearly 10 years. Just before the gallery's 10th anniversary, we decided to focus exclusively on publishing and promoting photographic publications. In a sense, the publishing house functions as an “artist-run space”, but it benefits from the institutional support of OPT Zamek, a municipal cultural institution of which we are a part. Our most recent book launches include: Wet Paint by Studio Prokopiou, All Empires Will Fall by Łukasz Rusznica, History of Poland vol 2 by Michał Sita.
We are focused on books' materiality; binding and print quality are as important to us, as are photographs and their sequencing. For this reason, we have a long-term collaboration with graphic designers - Agata Bartkowiak and Joanna Jopkiewicz - as well, as with Krzysztof Krzysztofiak, who manages our printing processes. Our activities are curated by Łukasz Rusznica, the main editor and head producer of our books.
