Claudia Andujar’s Genocídio do Yanomami brings together photographs made between 1971 and 1989 among the Yanomami people of Brazil and Venezuela, many published here for the first time. Originally produced as part of a wider campaign for Indigenous rights, the images are recontextualised in this volume to speak to ongoing threats faced by the Yanomami today. Combining experimental photographic techniques with sustained political commitment, the book positions photography as both witness and advocacy. Developed in close collaboration with Indigenous leaders and Andujar’s long-standing partners, the publication situates historical images firmly within the present.
