Anna Victoria Best
AVB Editions
In Keka Rocka, Anna Victoria Best documents stylist and collaborator Lara McGrath through a sustained photographic exchange that unfolded over three years. The book forms the first major publication from Best’s imprint AVB Editions, a series conceived around close collaborations between photographer and subject.
The images were made during three extended visits to McGrath’s farmhouse in Northumberland. Across these sessions, the pair developed a visual language grounded in improvisation and self styling. McGrath appears both as subject and co author of the imagery, shaping the scenes through clothing, gesture and movement.
Set against the rural landscape, the photographs explore ideas of autonomy and play outside the pressures of urban life. Interiors, fields and improvised settings become stages for performance, where fashion operates less as display and more as a tool for self construction. The resulting sequence reflects the openness of the collaboration itself, foregrounding process and experimentation rather than a fixed narrative.
Alongside her photographic practice, Best has produced editorial work for a range of fashion publications and brands. Keka Rocka extends that experience into a self published format, positioning the book as both a portrait of a muse and a study of creative partnership.
