For thousands of years, cats have fascinated humanity with their beauty, intelligence, mystery, and independence. In Feline, world-renowned photographer Tim Flach explores the deep and enduring bond between humans and cats, from their sacred role in ancient civilizations to their modern status as internet icons. Featuring more than 170 photographs, the book celebrates domestic breeds—from the British Shorthair and Rex to the striking Lykoi—as well as wild species and the conservation efforts aimed at protecting them. Flach’s portraits reveal the individuality and spirit of each animal in extraordinary detail. Essays by evolutionary biologist Jonathan Losos and neuroscientist Morten Kringelbach add scientific and cultural insight, examining cats’ evolution, human influence on breeding, and the psychology behind their irresistible appeal.
