Booth Event – Book Signing: Alina Araslanova

Paper Shelter is a photographic series created between 2023 and 2025 under the influence of the war in Ukraine. The project unfolds as a personal reflection on adolescence shaped by displacement — the loss of home, school, and familiar surroundings, and the emotional rupture that follows forced migration.
The series explores adolescence as a fragile state of being, marked by the instinct to hide one’s face, suppress emotions, and withdraw into an inner refuge. Through subtle gestures and restrained visual language, Paper Shelter speaks of loneliness, inner transformation, uncertainty, and the suspended feeling of living between past and present. It traces the search for support and identity within a reality that has been abruptly redefined.
The narrative follows an emotional trajectory from silence and self-protection toward gradual acceptance, self-awareness, and the recognition of personal boundaries, femininity, and desire.
