This recent publication on women in prison has earned Jane Evelyn Atwood a shortlisting for the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize (the winner of which will be announced at the start of the fair). The series is on view in the galleries’ booth (C03) as well as at The Photographer’s Gallery in London.

Atwood’s ground-breaking, decade-long project, visiting jails and penitentiaries in the United States, Eastern Europe, France, Russia, and India sheds light on incarcerated women and tells their stories. An expanded and now bi-lingual (English/French) volume published by le bec en l’air in 2025 updates the long out-of-print book “Too Much Time: Women in Prison” from 2000.
