In Smoke Filled Mirror, Keiran Perry chronicles a two-year journey with a travelling circus. He first encountered the group when they were stranded in Morecambe, Lancashire during the pandemic. Drawn in by their warmth and spirit, he embedded himself within their multicultural, vibrant community.

The resulting photographs blend stark textures with fleeting moments of wonder, capturing life on the margins with raw intimacy. Trapeze artists double as cooks and welders; the same hands that grip tightropes also fix engines and hang lights. Behind every show is relentless work, improvisation, and a fierce sense of solidarity.

Through this lens, Perry explores themes of belonging, alternative ways of living, and human connection amidst isolation. Smoke Filled Mirror offers a rare glimpse into a nomadic family’s resilience and beauty. It invites viewers to rediscover the power of community in unexpected places.
