Booth Event – Book Signing: Richard S. Chow

The title Present Tense symbolized the repurpose of vintage mediums into new contemporary art.

This cameraless collection features lumen prints, offering rich, layered compositions that engage both the eye and the mind. While the photographic element may not be apparent, the tangible quality of the photo-object and composition, invites an exploration of perception, time, color, materiality and light.

Richard’s work harnesses the elemental forces of light and nature to produce abstract imagery, capturing themes of impermanence and unpredictability. By exposing expired black and white darkroom paper to UV/sunlight for extended periods, he embraces the concept of “slow photography,” where each piece becomes a unique record of time, imprinted directly onto photo paper.
