Book Signing by Emma Salahi (Editor of Book)
Agony + Ecstasy Gallery releases it’s second Ibiza photo book, Walter Rudolph Ibiza 1976, edited by Emma Salahi and with forewords by Juan Suárez and Emily Steer. Rudolph’s iconography of Ibiza marks the beginnings of modern tourism capturing familiar landmarks and authentic Ibicenco culture. His extensive catalogue spans over a period of 25 years photographing mainly for internationally photo agencies including Toni Stone, Bavaria and ZEFA. Employed by airlines Iberia and TUI, he created photographs at numerous holiday destinations, focusing on hotel architectures, leisure environments and landmarks, images originally intended for commercial use that came to define the visual language of mass tourism during this era. Through Walters gaze we experience a nostalgic reminder of a bygone Ibiza on the cusp of discovery by the rest of the world and the bittersweet memories of places long gone.
