Nikon Presents: Alia Ali – Speaking in Image

Saturday 18 May 2024
5:15 pm - 6:15 pm
Screening Room

Alia Ali’s practice harnesses a variety of art mediums- and yet all her work integrates photography and is rooted in its historical narrative– even before 1816. Photography is the foundation. She describes it as “the core, the language– the bones” of her practice. It is not the parentheses, but rather the syntax that draws together a wide range of mediums and makers. She collaborates across the globe with carvers, weavers, printers and fabricators. Join us in experiencing the world and her practice through her Nikon lens. In her talk, Alia revisits the concept of the image, the imagination and photograph as a practice, art form and voice.
