CAMERA WORK gallery specializes in contemporary photography and vintage masterworks since its founding in 1997. Through the presentation of classical icons such as Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, Irving Penn or Man Ray, our aim is to present the development of photo art from its inception to the present. Even though the emphasis of the exhibited works is on nude-, portraiture- and fashion photography, the spectrum of photographs also encompasses the genres of landscape, architecture and still life. Nowadays, photography is increasingly influential in contemporary art and contributes to blurring the boundaries between different artistic mediums. Our ambition is to consciously emphasize this increasing tendency by paying special attention to contemporary artists with creative potential, such as Tina Berning & Michelangelo Di Battista, David Drebin, Jean- Baptiste Huynh, Russell James, Robert Polidori, Yoram Roth, Martin Schoeller and Christian Tagliavini. CAMERA WORK regularly joins the world’s most important fairs for photo art, Paris Photo, Photo London, Photo Shanghai and Toyko Photo among them. In 2011, CAMERA WORK was selected as one of the ten most influential and prestigious galleries worldwide. In February 2012, CAMERA WORK opened a second gallery in Berlin: CWC GALLERY (CAMERA WORK CONTEMPORARY). Since 2006, CAMERA WORK has been running a museum based on the Kennedy collection of CAMERA WORK, which includes vintage photographs, official and private documents, and memorabilia of the Kennedy family.
