Purdy Hicks Gallery first opened its gallery in Southwark in 1995 and has continually supported the evolving practice of both established and emerging international artists, each with an individual and radical approach to the artistic possibilities of their time. While eight to ten exhibitions are held annually, Purdy Hicks is also an active publisher.

Photography is a strong focus with the Gallery showcasing the work of artists including Susan Derges, Tom Hunter, Sandra Kantanen, Leila Jeffreys, Edgar Martins, Diana Matar, Awoiska van der Molen, Jorma Puranen and Bettina Von Zwehl, each of whom has a considerable critical and curatorial following, and an aim to break popular perceptions of method and role in contemporary photography. Works by our represented artists have recently been acquired by the Victoria an Albert Museum London, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, MOMA, and more.
