MMX Gallery was founded in an old photography studio in South East London in 2014 by Mark and Magdalena Shackleton. The gallery uses photography as a catalyst to exhibit and support exciting new and established photographers and photographic artists.
Encouraging freedom of expression and pushing boundaries within the ever-changing face of contemporary photographic practice, enables the gallery to show innovative works and ideas within its diverse programme of exhibitions.
Its seemingly endless possibilities is what fuels our passion for photography. Not ones to follow trends, we are always on the lookout to discover artists with a new way of looking at the world we live in. In turn, we are also unlocking archives to find hidden gems and vintage prints.
Photography needs to move us in some way and give that spark to realise what you are seeing is what you can believe in as a gallery. This way of seeing is how we will continue to bring wonderful images to our space and to the people of the world.
The gallery is still a work in progress and we are not a “white cube space” by any means, the Victorian architecture is very evident in the fabric of the building. Spread over two rooms, the gallery is a relaxing place to visit… Whether you are a collector or a curator, someone who admires photography or just a curious soul, you will always get a warm welcome at MMX.
