THIS IS NO FANTASY was established in 2010 by Dianne Tanzer and Nicola Stein. Our dynamic annual program of solo shows, curated exhibitions, and artist projects are complemented by our focus on off-site exhibitions and regular participation in international art fairs and public projects. The gallery is a dynamic platform to promote and exhibit contemporary artists in Australia and internationally. It reflects the passion and innovation for which Tanzer and Stein are known and builds on their wealth of knowledge and experience.

THIS IS NO FANTASY represents a select group of artists whose practices are defined by integrity, critical engagement and a strong personal aesthetic. Our artists have exhibited in institutions including Palais de Tokyo Paris, the British Museum, Gropius Bau Berlin, Seoul Museum of Art, National Gallery of Australia, Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) New York, IKON Gallery Birmingham, National Gallery of Singapore, MOPA San Diego, PAC Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea Milan, and we have twice participated in the Venice Biennale satellite program.
