The gallery specialises in Twentieth Century British Art, especially figurative art by the Camden Town School, St Ives painters, Kitchen Sink painters, The School of London; and British Pop Art. Solo shows include Michael Andrews, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Peter de Francia, Derrick Greaves, Edward Middleditch, Edouardo Paolozzi, Bridget Riley, Colin Self and WIlliam Turnbull. The gallery is also a leading speialist in photography and holds an inventory of important 19th century and 20th century vintage photographs.

In addition to exhibitions, publications, scholarship and art fairs (Frieze Masters, Masterpiece, Paris Photo etc), James Hyman’s core business is as an art advisor. We supply bespoke, expert advice to first time and experienced collectors, helping to source work and advising on acquisitions and sales. We work closely with private collectors and regularly sell and loan to Museums and public collections across the world.
