Curated by artist Cyrus Mahboubian, co-director of Maison Pan*, ANTIDOTE is a Polaroid-only exhibition featuring leading and emerging contemporary artists who engage the medium in distinct and compelling ways.
The exhibition takes its title from Mahboubian’s belief that Polaroid is an antidote to contemporary photographic excess. In contrast to the endlessly replicated digital image – primarily viewed only via screens – Polaroid stands as an object: immediate, tactile and unedited. Each image exists as a singular artefact, reinforcing the exhibition’s central idea that slowness, scarcity and physicality remain potent forces in contemporary photography.
