Galeria Raster was founded in 2001 in Warsaw, Poland, by Łukasz Gorczyca, Michał Kaczyński and Joanna Kaimer. Its successive headquarters and projects have had a formative character when it came to developing the private Warsaw art scene. Raster is known for its international gallery projects Villa (Warsaw, Reykjavik, Tokyo, Toronto) and The Fair Gallery, as well as experimental commercial formats such as the Cheap Art Fair, exhibitions offering visual arts, music, literature, and original publications. From the very beginning, many important artists of the 2000 generation have been associated with the gallery, including Aneta Grzeszykowska, Michał Budny, Oskar Dawicki, Marcin Maciejowski, Zbigniew Rogalski, and Janek Simon. Raster’s program has been broadened through exhibitions with young artists as well as via their representation of Edward Dwurnik and Zofia Rydet’s estate.
