Salto Ulbeek is a photographic publisher and fine art printer dedicated to excellence in both material production and editorial conception.
Working at the intersection of historical process and contemporary practice, the studio is best known for its mastery of platinum-palladium printing - one of the most refined and enduring photographic techniques. All printing is carried out in-house, using systems developed, combined, and perfected by the studio since its inception. The result are prints of remarkable depth, subtlety, and permanence.
A defining aspect of Salto Ulbeek’s practice is its close collaboration with major private and institutional archives, working both to safeguard their photographic heritage and to broaden its visibility and appreciation among wider audiences. Current archival partners include the Royal Geographical Society and the Scott Polar Research Institute. The studio also collaborates with contemporary photographers to maximise the aesthetic and conceptual value of their work, whilst ensuring its long-term conservation.
By combining technical and editorial precision with artisanal craftsmanship, Salto Ulbeek bridges past and present to produce photographic works valued by collectors and institutions alike. All prints and folios published by Salto Ulbeek in collaboration with archives are issued as limited editions, accompanied by numbered certificates signed by both the studio and the director of the archive holding the original negatives.
