We’re delighted to announce the return of the acclaimed Photo London Talks Programme, a cornerstone of the Fair and a space where ideas meet image. Curated for a second year by Thames & Hudson, the 2025 line-up features some of the most vital voices in photography today – from globally celebrated artists to emerging talents redefining visual storytelling.

Early highlights include:
Zofia Kulik in conversation with Fiona Rogers, tracing the artist’s radical trajectory from avant-garde collective KwieKulik to her politically charged solo work
Calling the Shots, a landmark panel on queer photography, featuring Ajamu X, Jake Elwes, Rosy Martin, Bex Wade, and chaired by Zorian Clayton of the V&A
• Behind-the-scenes in fashion with Robert Fairer, Sonnet Stanfill, and Adélia Sabatini, and a deep dive into early colour processes with Cally Blackman and Alistair O’Neill

This year also sees powerful contributions from long-time Photo London partners:

London Lives: A Roost for Every Bird

Inspired by Disraeli’s description of the capital as “a roost for every bird,” this special panel explores the city as muse and subject. Presented in conjunction with the London Lives exhibition in the Embankment Galleries, the conversation features three very different approaches to photographing London.

Julia Fullerton-Batten, Tom Hunter, and Nick Turpin will discuss how the city shapes their practice, what it means to make work about a place they call home, and what continues to inspire them about life in London. The panel is moderated by Francis Hodgson, writer, critic and co-founder of the Prix Pictet.

The Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant Presents: Voices from the Frontline

For over thirty years, the Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant has supported young and emerging photojournalists around the globe. This talk brings together two of its 2024 recipients — Iva Sidash (Ukraine) and Ximena Borrazás (Uruguay/Spain) — in conversation with Fiona Shields, Head of Photography at The Guardian, and renowned photojournalist and poet Anastasia Taylor-Lind.

Together, they’ll reflect on the power of photography in documenting conflict, the shifting landscape for photojournalists today, and the deeply personal stories behind the images. With a focus on women photographers working in and around Ukraine, the session offers a moving and timely exploration of image-making in moments of crisis.

Nikon Presents: Perspectives in Practice

Nikon showcases some of the most dynamic voices working in photography today, from street scenes and stillness to environmental collapse.

  • Heather Agyepong joins Nikon to explore the role of rest, resistance and reflection in her practice. Fresh from her residency at St. John’s College, Oxford, and her commission for FT Weekend Magazine, Heather will reflect on how stillness informs her deeply personal and political work.
Charlie Hamilton James, celebrated National Geographic photographer and filmmaker, presents End Times, a visual reckoning with environmental collapse. His talk explores how image-makers can shift narratives and challenge entrenched ways of seeing the natural world.
Lucy Hamidzadeh shares the intuitive, observational approach behind her acclaimed street photography. A Nikon Creator, Lucy will discuss what it means to walk, wait and witness, capturing human moments with candour and curiosity in the everyday.

These talks offer unique insight into the wide-ranging possibilities of photography – as art, activism, documentation and expression.

The Talks Programme forms part of the Photo London Academy, our year-round platform for dialogue, discovery and debate. Access free talks, a monthly book club and our digital magazine at photolondon.org/academy
